Astrantia major 'Moulin Rouge' is a recent introduction that brings a splash of colour to summer borders. The bright red, pincushion flowers perch delicately upon slender stems, swaying gently above loose clumps of foliage. The attractive leaves are glossy green and deeply cut, adding texture to planting schemes. This variety is shorter than many, making it a good choice for the front of borders. Ideal for cottage gardens, wildlife areas and cut flower borders. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 30cm (12").

How to Grow

Plant in fertile, moist, well drained soil, in full sun or semi shade. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting, and water plants well until established.

Divide overcrowded clumps of Masterwort in spring and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant.
