Heliopsis scabra 'Sunburst'
Flower
New
Description
Grow something unusual! The remarkable variegated foliage of this lovely, bushy perennial means that it makes an attractive border plant even when it’s not in flower! Flowering in the first year from an early sowing, these striking plants will become covered with cheery, bright yellow daisy-like flowers. 90% true to type.
Sowing Instructions
Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed , moist seed compost in pots or trays . Lightly cover the seed with vermiculite. Place sown pots or trays in a propagator or warm place, and keep at a temperature of between 20-25C (68-77F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 1-3 months. When large enough to handle transplant seedlings into 7.5 cm (3in) pots or trays.
Growing Instructions
Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 30-45cm (12-18in) apart. For best results provide a well drained soil in full sun.
