Description

With outstanding vigour and excellent garden performance, not usually seen in seed-raised, double-flowered begonias, British-bred ‘Fairyland Mixed’ is a striking double to semidouble, rose-bud-flowered bedding begonia variety. Offering premium quality at a less than premium price, these versatile plants will create a riot of colour in borders as well as containers, in sun as well as in shade.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Do not cover the seed. Place in a propagator or seal container in a polythene bag and put in warm place, and keep at a temperature of around 24-27ºC (75-80ºF). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 15-60 days. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays.

Growing Instructions

Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 15-20cm (6-8in) apart, or plant into containers. For best results, provide a rich, light, well-drained soil in full sun or part shade.

Aftercare

Caution - Dust-like seeds. To open, hold over a sheet of white paper, cut along three sides of inner pack and carefully open out flat. Tap the packet gently to dislodge seed.
