Description

Intense scarlet leaf and stem colour, similar to a narrow stemmed chard, for picking regularly to add a rich colour and eye appeal to the salad bowl. Also superb as a steamed vegetable utilising both stems and leaves, hot or cold. Easy to grow in patio containers.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seed thinly, 1cm (1/2in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart.

Growing Instructions

Thinning is not necessary if grown for salad leaves, just harvest regularly as required to promote fresh growth and to extend the harvesting season. Plants will eventually form edible roots if thinned to 5-7cm(2-3in) similar to beetroots.
