Poppy 'Summer Fruits'
Flower
Description
Dramatic peony-headed poppy in a kaleidoscope of colours. Poppies will bloom all summer long in borders and then reseed to appear again the following year. The ruffled nodding heads are irresistable to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects. Plant in clumps for maximum impact.
Sowing Instructions
Sow March to May. Sow thinly just below the surface in well-cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine tilth.
When large enough to handle, thin seedlings to 15-30cm (6-12in) apart.
Growing Instructions
Removing spent flower heads will encourage further blooming.
Caution
All poppies are poisonous. However, the
seeds produced by
somniferum and paeoniflorum poppies only can be eaten. Typically, they are used in bakery recipes.
