Cucumber Cetriolo Marketer produces a prolific crop throughout the summer of medium length, dark green cucumbers with short, white spines. Cucumber Cetriolo Marketer is best grown outdoors.
For early crops sow seeds under protection in pots of compost, 20mm deep in March to April. Plant outdoors in late May or when all danger of frost risk has passed, 80cm apart each way. Seed can be sown direct in the open ground from May to June by placing 2 seeds per station, 20mm deep, and 80cm apart. Keep soil moist.
Thin to strongest seedling. Protection with polythene or fleece may be necessary during cold weather.
Cut fruits regularly to encourage, long continuous production. Cut before fruits show signs of producing seeds, best done early morning when it is fresh and cool.
Cucumbers are 96% water, low in calories but high in potassium. Avoid peeling as the dark green skin is rich in carotenoid antioxidants.
Serving suggestion - Baked cucumber with mixed Italian herbs. Cut cucumber in half, remove ends, slice into wedges. Cover with knobs of butter and fresh herbs. Microwave or bake.
