Lycopersicon lycopersicum. An ultra compact, determinate variety only 25-30cm (10-12in) in height. Good crops of sweet 20-25g (¾-1oz), cherry-shaped fruit for continuous picking. Tomato Sweet 'n' Neat Cherry Red is ideal in patio containers and mixed planters and due to its compact habit, can even be grown on a sunny windowsill.
Sow seeds from February to April. Sow seeds on the surface of free-draining sowing mix and cover with about 6mm (⅛in) of compost. Place in a propagator at 18-21C (65-70F) until germination, about 7-10 days.
Transplant when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Plant in their final position when 10cm (4in) high. Acclimatise plants for a few days before planting outdoors in containers on the patio or fertile well-drained soil.
Feed weekly once first fruits have set. No need to pinch out growth or to sideshoot. Harvest regularly to extend picking season.
