Pretty as well as tasty

Very high germination rates and quick growing, these runner beans are very productive. The beans taste good and the masses of beautiful red flowers really add to the vegetable garden. They need checking daily though, as with most runner beans, they seem to produce beans from nowhere!
May to July outdoors, directly into rich, well prepared soil in a sunny spot. Provide support for climbing habit, either a row or wigwam of 180cm canes or netting, sow 2 seeds against each cane, 4cm deep. Can also be sown individually in small pots or cells under glass at 18-20C from mid April to transplant outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.
Keep watered, particularly once flowering commences, adding a mulch during hottest, dry periods.
Pick pods regularly whilst young for heaviest yields and to extend the season.
Good flavour, excellent in summer salads.
