August to December
Italian salad vegetable, rich in antioxidants. Radicchio Firestorm is best grown for full sized heads in autumn and early winter with excellent weather resistance. The round heads have green outer leaves.
Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.
Sow seeds June to July for full sized heads, thinly in well prepared soil in full sun, 13mm deep in drills 30cm apart. Seeds can be sown in pots on the windowsill for fresh leaves all year round.
Thin seedlings when large enough to handle to 30cm apart.
Keep well watered to minimise bolting (running to seed).
Adds colour, texture and intense flavour to mixed leaf salads.
