Onion Sturon from Duchy Originals produces firm, brown skinned bulbs with pungent white flesh. Good storage ability.
Sow seeds March to April, thinly in prepared soil in a sunny spot, 13mm deep in drills 45cm apart.
Thin seedlings when large enough to handle, to 5cm apart for smaller bulbs or 7-10cm apart for larger bulbs.
Harvesting: Lift bulbs on a dry, sunny day and allow to dry off on the soil surface. Store fully ripened sound bulbs in nets or trays for use throughout the autumn and winter.
Combine with fresh sage for a classic stuffing mixture.
