June to October
Prolific crop of mini cucumbers around 12cm long throughout the summer. Cucumber Picolino is thin skinned with crisp, juicy flesh.
Sow seeds 20mm deep in 7cm pots or cells using multipurpose compost. Place in a propagator at 20-25C until germination, which takes up to 7 days.
Transplant to individual 13cm pots and finally to large pots, or two plants per growbag, maintaining minimum 15C. Support plant with stout cane or netting. All female variety so each flower should produce a fruit. Rarely a male flower may appear (no embryo fruit adjoining the flower) which must be removed to avoid pollination and bitter fruits.
Slice finely and add to salads and sandwiches.
