I am a crunchy, tasty, bright red radish ideal for a tangy snack or with your favourite salad. I'm quick and easy to grow outdoors in the soil or in small pots and windowboxes.
Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.
Sow me outside from March to August. I love any well-drained soil in full sunshine. Choose my home in the garden. Dig the soil well and rake so it is nice and fine and remove any big stones. Make narrow channels in the soil scatter me very thinly in the row. Alternatively sow thinly in pots.
Water regularly especially when it is dry.
Pick me as soon as you can see the tops peeking through the soil and when I reach about 1cm across. Keep me well watered and you can pick me whenever you want.
ASK AN ADULT TO HELP - Make a pretty salad garnish. Cut off the end of the radish, make cuts about 3mm apart almost through the radish. Place them in ice cold water and put in the refrigerator until they open up into a fan shape.
