A delightful species originating from Spain and Portugal. Produces elegant flower spikes covered in small chocolate trumpets circling each stem and attracting beneficial insects.
Sow early summer to mid winter at 18-20C (65-70F) in a good seed compost. Do not cover the seed with compost. Germination usually takes 15-30 days.
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow on in cooler conditions. Plant out 60cm (24in) apart in sun or part shade on ordinary garden soil.
