A striking selection with large flowers of claret-red amongst soft, finely cut silver-green foliage. Height: 23-30cm (9-12in).
Sow February to July in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 15°C (60F). Surface sow and just cover with vermiculite and exclude light. Germination can take up to 9 months (30-280 days). Trim off any tails from seeds if present. After sowing, seal in a polythene bag and leave at 13-18°C (55-65F) pre-chill for 3-6 weeks before returning to specified temperature. Keep the compost moist but not too wet at all times.
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on in a cold frame and plant out the following spring 30cm (12in) apart.
Prefers a moist, well drained soil. Plant in full sun.
