New to gardening
By katrina morris 17-08-2011
I am new to gardening, and this cosmos has certainly encouraged me. Every seed came up. They are like bushes. I am stunned. Flowered in June & they are still flowering. Unless you need masses of plants don't plant them all at the same time.
Gorgeous

Bought these last year and sowed them quite late this spring (2011). Tall but very sturdy plants which started flowering late July. Most of them are true to the picture but a very few are a solid dark pink/purple, blending very well with the bicolour shown. Bought another packet already to sow next spring I like them so much.
Sow seeds from March to May. Sow seeds on the surface of a good, free- draining, damp, seed compost. Cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag and place at a temperature of 20-25C (68-77F) until after germination which usually takes 7-14 days. Do not exclude light as this helps germination.
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 30-45cm (12-18in) apart.
Prefers a sunny position in light, well-drained soil.
