Compact, bushy plants quickly become smothered in gorgeous fully double apricot flowers. Being dwarf makes Calendula Apricot Twist ideal for planting towards the front of a border or in containers. One seed produces a bushy plant as pictured here.
Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.
Sow seeds from March to May. Sow seeds outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Sow 12mm (½in) deep, in rows 30cm (12in) apart.
For spring/summer flowering pot plants: Sow seeds in a cool greenhouse or conservatory in late summer/early autumn. Grow on cool in full light and water sparingly.
When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 20cm (8in) apart.
The petals can be used as a substitute for saffron, added to soups, rice or omelettes. They also make a bright addition to salads.
