Tomato Gartenperle

Although they didn't ripen until late August, I've picked loads of lovely red tomatoes. I found the taste certainly as good as those you buy in a supermarket, and to be able to pick them from the pot when required was great. I propagated them on the windowsill in March, transferred them to the greenhouse and then put them in a sunny position in the back garden in big pots. Their skins weren't at all tough, a big bonus, and they cook very nicely too.

Easy to propagate on the windowsill and trouble free to grow in a bucket or big pot. There is no need to pinch out side shoots and they seem happy in full or partial sun. Best of all they have a sweet burst of flavour when eaten raw and an even more intense flavour when roasted.

I grew these tomatoes last year here in the Limousin area of France. They excelled themselves, producing cascades of perfect little tomatoes until early October, from hanging baskets and hay mangers. I won a prize in the village "flowering gardens" competition, due to the surprise of the judges seeing tomatoes in hanging baskets! Usually they grow huge "beefsteak" varieties here. Another bonus of being able to buy T&M seeds on line, means my family and friends are never stuck for ideas as to what to give me for birthday/Christmas presents!! Packets of T&M SEEDS cost very little for postage, compared to a book or parcel and delivery is very prompt. One very thoughtful friend sends them as a "Thank you for having me to stay" present. This means she has enjoyed discussing the next years colour schemes with me, and is a charming reminder of her all the next summer! Best regards, Janet Pollitt.

For indoor crops Plant finally into growbags, pots or baskets in the greenhouse. For outdoor crops Acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions for a few days before planting into containers or direct into a sunny, moist, fertile and well drained site.
