Crunchy, dense, uniformly shaped hearts of excellent quality and flavour. Iceberg Lettuce Sonette is recommended for sowings from spring and throughout the summer as it has excellent mildew resistance. Heads of Iceberg Lettuce Sonette stand well in hot weather and will keep for 2 weeks in the refrigerator after cutting.
Sow seeds thinly at regular intervals thinly, 12mm (½in) deep in drills 38cm (15in) apart.
Thin seedlings to 30cm (12in) apart when large enough to handle.
Water well during dry periods.
The dark green leaves of lettuce are a good source of beta-carotene and Vitamin A.
The crunchy texture of this variety makes it ideal for use in mixed salads. Cut heads can keep for up to 2 weeks in a refrigerator.
