Sweet and tasty, miniature 'cos' lettuces with deep red leaves from a young age, so Lettuce Pandero can be used for 'baby leaves' as well as 'hearts'. Useful for smaller gardens or patio containers. Good mildew resistance. Lettuce Pandero is recommended for successional sowings. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil in full sun.
Sow seeds March to August. Sow seeds thinly, 1cm (½ inch) deep in drills 30cm (12 inches apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially during dry periods.
When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 20cm (8 inches) apart.

The dark green leaves of lettuce are a good source of beta-carotene and Vitamin A.
