Sow seeds where they are to grow in March/April in drills 12mm (½in) deep, 30cm (12in) apart.
When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 23cm (9in) apart. Keep well watered and weed free.
Lift the roots in September/October, as required, taking care NOT to damage them. They can be stored in boxes of sand until required.
