A delectable back of border plant, at whatever stage the flower is at! Tightly scrolled buds open to 7cm (3in) in palest lemon, maturing to yellow, apricot and finally salmon-pink. The delicately scented blooms are at their best in the evening. Height: 60-100cm (24-40in)
Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.
Germinate February to May at 18-20C (64-68F) on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Apply a fine sprinkling of vermiculite, but do not cover the seed completely. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 14-21 days.
Transplant seedlings, when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on in cooler conditions for at least 14 days before planting out. Plant outside after all risk of frost, 30cm (12in) apart.
