A superb border Hibiscus from Asia with masses of large, rich, cerise-pink flowers with a darker centre, over a long period. Seldom offered and limited seed available.
Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.
Sow 1.5cm (1/16in) deep in good seed sowing compost in February/March. Soaking the seed for 1-2 hours in lukewarm water before sowing is helpful. Germination takes 7-14 days at 20-25C (70-75F).
When large enough to handle transplant the seedlings to boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots, and when grown gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out in late spring after all risk of frost has passed 30cm (12in) apart in full sun and well drained soil.
