Start seed indoors 10-12 weeks prior to the last frost date. Sow seed on the surface of a pre-moistened potting soil, and cover only very lightly with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite. Mist to ensure good seed/soil contact and cover the container with a sheet of plastic wrap to retain moisture. Provide a source of bottom heat to keep warm at 70-75F and expose to bright but indirect light. Germination usually takes from 14-21 days.
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant on to 3in pots and grow on cool and in good light. Gradually acclimatize seedlings to outdoor conditions and move to their final locations after all danger of frost at a spacing of 12in in part shade, or sun where summers are cool. Days to bloom: 9-12 weeks.
