Dark red, good coloured round roots with crisp, gently pungent flesh which is slow to turn 'pithy'. Radish Rudi is suitable for outdoor crops or for forcing under glass or in frames for even earlier crops. Radish Rudi is a versatile, easy to grow salad crop. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Harvest almost all year round. Seeds are in the RHS Vegetable Collection.
Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.
Sow seeds March-September outdoors or October-February under glass. Sow seeds thinly, 1cm (½ inch) deep in drills 30cm (12 inches) apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially during dry periods.
When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 2.5cm (1 inch) apart.
Keep plants cool and moist to prevent running to seed.
Radishes are rich in Vitamin C and potassium and contain sulphur compounds.
With their unique flavours, Radishes and Fennel make a great pairing for salads.
