Yellowstone carrots

Highly recommended variety, have grown them for 2 years now. Flavour is very good and sweet, especially when roasted. Some of the crop looks more like a parsnip when pulled, thick and long.
Sow March to June. Sow seeds thinly, 1cm (½in) deep in drills 15cm (6in) apart. Can also be sown under cloches in January/February for earlier cropping.
Thin seedlings when large enough to handle to 5cm (2in) apart to reduce risk from carrot root fly.
Grow Spring Onion White Lisbon next to carrots as the smell helps deter Carrot Fly.
Prefers well drained, moist, rich, cool conditions Harvest July to December.
Carrots make a healthy, nutritious addition to your daily diet. They are high in Vitamin A and beta-carotene, and rich in antioxidants.
The unusual colour of this carrot makes it a particularly exciting addition to fresh salads or use with dips.
