High yield of tender and well-flavoured dark green, blistered, savoyed leaves from successional spring and summer sowings to give a longer cropping period. Stands well without bolting during hot weather if kept well watered. Ideal for freezing.
Sow March to July outdoors. Can be sown under cloches or frames in September. Sow seed thinly, 1cm (½in) deep in broad drills, 30cm (12in) apart.
Thin seedlings to 5cm (2in) apart when large enough to handle, thinnings will be suitable for use in salads.
Harvest leaves as required, picking only a few from each plant. Keep plants well watered during hot, dry weather.
Lightly steam to retain nutritional content.
