Description

Very compact bushy plants produce a good crop of delicious sweet, orange skinned, cherry sized fruits. Ideal if you are short of space as Tomato Venus is a compact variety that can be grown in containers on a sunny patio or a pot on the windowsill. Tomato Venus can be grown in the garden but is best in pots or containers.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds from April to May. Sow seeds on the surface of a free-draining compost and cover with about 6mm (¼in) of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator at 18-21C (65-70F) until after germination, usually 7-10 days.

Growing Instructions

Maintain temperature about 15C (60F). Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Plant in final position when plants are 10cm (4in) high.

For indoor crops plant into containers, which can also be placed outdoors once frost risk has passed. For outdoor crops, acclimatise plants outdoors for a few days, before planting up in containers. Protect against any cold winds until established.

Aftercare

Feed plants weekly, with a high potash tomato fertiliser once first fruits have set. It is not necessary to pinch out growth or sideshoot. Harvest fruits regularly to promote further flowers and to extend the picking season.

Nutritional Information

Tomatoes are packed with antioxidants and high in vitamins A and C and lycopene, all helping to stimulate your body’s immune system.
