Description

The tastiest of all the Romaine lettuces we have ever trialled. Lettuce Chartwell is renowned for its crunchy texture and the sweetest flavour. Excellent downy mildew resistance, with good bolting tolerance and heart quality during hotter summer conditions.

Romaine Lettuce Chartwell is ideal for spring and summer sowings. Suitable for 'cut and come again', baby leaf or mature hearts.

Crisp sweet and delicious this is the best lettuce I have ever grown. It germinates easily and transplants without check. Lasts well without bolting. All round excellence its a must grow for us.

Excellent sweet crisp romaine lettuce. Lots of crisp and juicy inner leaves.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds thinly at regular intervals, 1cm (1/2 in) deep in drills 30-38cm (12-15in) apart.

Growing Instructions

Thin seedlings to 30cm (12in) apart for full hearted lettuce or to 15cm (6in) for 'baby leaf or 'cut and come again' salad.

Aftercare

Water well during dry periods.

Nutritional Information

The dark green leaves of lettuce are a good source of beta-carotene and Vitamin A.

Kitchen Notes

Crunchy hearts make it an ideal salad ingredient. Cut heads can keep for up to 2 weeks in refrigerator.
