Description

A rarely-offered Primula with the amazing feature of producing two layers of flowers per stem. This unique flower form was first recorded in 1597 and was known as 'Hose in Hose' types after the way Elizabethan gentlemen wore their stockings! You & Me Blue is a delightful selection, which shows off this intriguing characteristic at its best, as well as displaying excellent garden performance and winter hardiness in borders or containers.

Height: 15-20cm (6-8in).

Sowing Instructions

Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, soil-less seed compost in pots or trays. Keep at a temperature of between 15-20C (59-68F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 14-30 days. As soon as you see the seeds starting to chit (germinate) lightly cover the seeds with vermiculite. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays.

Growing Instructions

Gradually acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions in a cold frame or sheltered part of the garden for few weeks before planting out in the autumn in borders spaced 15cm (6in) apart, or plant into containers for autumn/spring colour.
