Sowing Instructions

Sowing time: February to May.

Caution: - Dust-like seeds. To open, hold over a sheet of white paper, cut along three sides of inner pack and carefully open out flat. Tap the packet gently to dislodge seed.

Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Do not cover the seed. Place in a propagator or warm place, and keep at a temperature of around 24-27C (75-80F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 21-60 days.

Growing Instructions

When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays.

Aftercare

Pot on as required into 13cm (5in) and finally 20cm (8in) pots. Water freely throughout the summer and feed with a high potash feed to encourage flowering. Removal of spent blooms (old blooms) will also encourage more flowers. Reduce watering and keep plants reasonably dry during the winter months.
