A poppy with a difference! Stunning, rich burgundy-red flowers, each with an attractive serrated, frilly edge, above erect, silver-green foliage. Borders look spectacular when sown en-masse, creating drifts of this most vibrant colour. Height: 60-90cm (24-36 inches).
Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.
Sow early spring to early summer thinly just below the surface in well cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine tilth.
When large enough to handle, thin seedlings to 15-30cm (6-12in) apart.
Removing spent flower heads will encourage further blooming. Plants will often self seed and come up the following year.
