This unusual Nicotiana caught the eye of many visitors to our trial grounds. Tall, delicate stems, covered in small, intriguing, two-toned green, teardrop-like blooms. Sure to create interest and add height to any garden border. Height: 120-150cm (4-5 feet).
Sow in pots or trays of moist seed compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or warm place and keep at a constant temperature of between 18-29C (65-85F). After sowing do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged. Germination will usually take 7-21 days. When large enough to handle transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays.
Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk at frost. Plant 45-60cm (18-24in) apart or into containers. For best results provide a light, well drained soil in full sun.
