Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 65-70F (18-20C). Sowing Depth: žin (6mm). Sow at any time of year. Pre-chill for 4-6 weeks.
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on in a cold frame and plant out the following spring. Plant from the cold frame into a nursery bed and grow on for 3-4 years, then plant 3-4.5m (10-15ft) apart in their permanent positions.
Prefers a sheltered sunny site. Plant in ordinary garden soil.
