Tall wands of violet-blue flowers in seemingly infinate quantity over a long period. With its characteristic aromatic fragrance it is extremely effective in the border, long-lived, easily grown and very reliable.

Sow on the surface of a good free draining seed compost from late February to June. Make sure the compost is moist but not wet and seal inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 10-40 days at 20-30°C (70-85F). Reducing soil temperature at night aids germination.
Transplant when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Later plant out 30cm (12in) apart.
Plant in a well drained soil in full sun. It may be necessary to provide a light stake in windy gardens.
