Description

Soft to the touch flower spikes of dusky pink which bees love and can been used as cut flowers. The mid green leaves are unusual and almost resemble peanut foliage. Height: 45-60cm (18-24in).

I grew these from seed a few years ago, they were easy to grow and are now well established. They look great in my garden, they attract bees and butterflies, I leave the flower heads in place until autumn and the cut them down for the cold Scottish winter and they come back year after year. One of my garden favourites.

Sowing Instructions

Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 20C (75F). Sow in well drained compost, just covering the seed with compost. Seal the container inside a polythene bag after sowing. Sow February to May. Germination usually takes 14-30 days.

Growing Instructions

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Harden off and plant out when all risk of frost has passed. Space the plants 45cm (18in) apart.

Aftercare

Plant in full sun. Prefers a well drained soil.
