Achieves dazzling ice-whiteness against an evergreen backcloth of glossy foliage, producing an outstanding, rich fragrance. An exotic climber suitable for the cool greenhouse or a pot in a sunny window trained round a framework of canes. Flowers spring to late autumn. Climber.
Sow at any time of year 3mm (1/8in) deep in good free draining compost. Seal in a polythene bag after sowing until germination which can take one to three months at 24-27C (75-80F).
Transplant the seedlings, when large enough to handle, into 8cm (3in) pots and later plant in the greenhouse border or into 13-20cm (5-8in) pots or tubs.
They need good light to bloom well. Syringe twice daily from spring to early autumn except when the plants are in flower. Give a winter temperature of 15C (60F) and a summer temperature of 27C (80F). Prune in early spring by removing all weak growths and cutting back strong ones by at least half. Shade from strong sun.
