Sowing Time: February. Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 75-80F (25-27C). Sowing Depth: Surface sow on a peat/sand mix seed compost and do not exclude light. A soil temperature of 80F (27C) gives best results. Keep the soil moisture high, the surface of the soil should never dry out. Germination takes from 15-60 days.
Transplant seedlings in small clumps, handling carefully, preferably into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on in cool well lit conditions. Pot on finally into 15cm (6in) pots or plant in hanging baskets. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out, after all risk of frost has gone and the weather is mild. Plant in full sun or part shade.
Prefers a moist, well drained soil.
