Bred for close spacing, Broccoli Kabuki F1 will product a quality 'one meal' head followed by smaller side shoots.
Sow seeds thinly, 1cm (½ inch) deep in drills 23cm (9 inch) apart in well-drained, fertile soil, which has been raked to a fine tilth and contains plenty of well-rotted compost or organic matter. It will also be beneficial to rake in 3oz/sq yard of any balanced fertiliser. For earlier cropping, seeds can also be sown under glass and planted out at the 5-6 leaf stage.
Transplant when seedlings have 5-6 leaves, spacing by 25-30cm (10 to 12 inches) apart each way. Water ground regularly, especially in dry periods. Hoe between plants occasionally, and give a liquid feed as heads begin to develop.
Harvest from summer to autumn.
Calabrese and Broccoli contain many healthy antioxidants. They are high in Vitamin A and C and are a good source of iron.
