An excellent flavoured autumn maturing variety, with exceptional winter hardiness. Leek Blauwgroene herfst-Ardea has very good rust tolerance, which is essential during wetter weather. Producing erect dark green foliage and pure white stems with minimal bulbing.
Bred to give increased Hybrid vigour, garden performance and flavour, thus increasing your harvest. Due to their wide ranging pest and disease resistance, there will be no need for the use of chemicals, making them ideal for organic gardeners.
Sowing Time: Mid March to late April. Sow seeds thinly, 1cm (1/2in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart in well-drained, fertile soil, which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially in dry periods.
Transplant when large enough to handle, 20-23cm (8-9in) apart, allowing 45cm (18in) between rows.
