Description

An outstanding variety for both crop and flavour. A 'filet' type with 15cm (6in) mid green, stringless pencil pods 8mm (1/3in) diameter. Delinel Bean seeds in the RHS Vegetable Collection have outstanding crops, and a long season if picked regularly. Bean Common Mosaic Virus and Anthracnose resistance. Black seeded variety. Height 45cm(18in).

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds mid April in pots indoors, plant out late May, Sow seeds early May to July (outdoors). Sow 4-5cm (1½ to 2 in.) deep allowing 20cm (8in) between plants and 45cm (18in) between rows.

Growing Instructions

Germination and establishment is poor in cold wet soils. Use cloches or raise plants indoors. Flowers are self pollinating (no insects required). Pick regularly whilst young to give highest yields and extend the season. Cook/steam pods whole.

Aftercare

Good for any fertile soil in an open, sunny site.

Kitchen Notes

Cook filet/pencil types whole or slice flat types. Harness their flavour by gently steaming. NEVER EAT PODS RAW.
