Kew Urban Garden Vegetables : Parsnip Arrow

Pastinaca sativa. Slender, bayonet shaped roots, virtually coreless and tender and sweet. Sow regularly for fresh roots throughout the summer and autumn. Parsnip Arrow is ideal in deeper containers with a minimum depth of 37cm (14½in), or outside in the garden.

Parsnip : Avonresister

Parsnip Avonresister uses less space than other parsnip varieties. Thin out to only 7cm (3in). Parsnip Avonresister is far and away the most resistant variety to canker.

Parsnip : Countess F1 Hybrid

Parsnip Countess was specially bred for smooth, white skinned and fleshed roots which retain their colour after washing. Parsnip Countess produces conical roots with shallow crowns are of excellent flavour. Ideal used as a maincrop variety for lifting from October and maintaining its quality through to April.

Parsnip : Dagger F1 Hybrid (Mini Vegetable)

Parsnip Dagger has smooth skinned, bayonet shaped, tender roots with good canker resistance.

Parsnip : Excalibur F1

Parsnip Excalibur has smooth, almost bleached white-skinned roots with creamy flesh of sweet flavour. With good tolerance against canker, the roots of Parsnip Excalibur are shallow-crowned and suitable for harvest from September onwards, and have good storage properties. Seeds are in the RHS Vegetable Collection.

Parsnip : Gladiator F1

The world's first hybrid parsnip. Parsnip Gladiator F1 is fast maturing with consistent high quality flesh, silky-smooth white skin. Very good canker resistance and 'true' sweet parsnip flavour. Parsnip Gladiator F1 is excellent for exhibition.

Parsnip : Javelin F1 Hybrid

An exceptional British bred variety, Parsnip Javelin produces smooth skinned, slender, tapering roots with good Canker resistance. Parsnip Javelin is ideal for the kitchen as well as exhibition.

Parsnip : Panache F1 Hybrid

Parsnip Panache is very vigorous, uniform, smooth white-skinned roots and a creamy flesh with sweet flavour. Producing large wedge/bayonet shaped roots with shallow crowns. Parsnip Panache has good canker resistance.

Parsnip : Pinnacle F1 Hybrid

Whiter, smoother-skinned roots and shallow crowns are features of this excellent British-bred parsnip. Specially selected against canker, the slender wedge-shaped roots of Parsnip Pinnacle produce a good weight of flesh and display excellent root uniformity and winter hardiness.

Harvest from October to April from March to May sowings.

Parsnip : Tender & True

Parsnip Tender & True is probably the best flavoured variety to use for both the kitchen and exhibition. Good canker resistance.

Parsnip : White Gem

An excellent tried and tested variety, Parsnip White Gem has shown that it can be grown successfully in virtually all soil types. Parsnip White Gem also has a very good canker resistance which results in lots of fine, medium length, smooth skinned, high quality, fine flavoured parsnips.
