Carrot : Adelaide F1 Hybrid

Carrot Adelaide is one of the earliest maturing varieties available. Short tops with smooth skinned, cylindrical roots, filling out quickly to give a crunchy sweet flavour. Ideal for sowing early in cold frames. Be the first to pull carrots this spring! Seeds are in the RHS Vegetable Collection.

Carrot : Amsterdam Forcing

A high quality variety producing small cylindrical roots with a rich deep orange red colour and almost no core. Carrot Amsterdam Forcing is very quick to mature, ideal for early forcing in frames, cloches etc. to produce delicious finger carrots. To produce quick crops out of doors from summer to autumn sow at 14 day intervals through the spring and early summer.

Carrot : Autumn King 2

Root length: 25-30cms (10-12 inches).

Carrot Autumn King 2 produces long, large roots with a deep rich red internal colour. Ideal grown for the heavyweight class at local shows. Can be left in the ground all winter without splitting.

Carrot : Bangor F1 Hybrid

Approximate root length: 25-30cms (10-12 inches).

One of the best maincrop varieties for the gardener. Carrot Bangor produces a heavy yield of excellent quality, large cylindrical roots in moist soils. good core colour and flavour, resists greening and cracking and stores very well.

Carrot : Carota Fucino

Carrot Carota Fucino is a cylindrical, blunt ended, smooth, rich orange skinned and cored 'bunching carrot'. Sow seeds regularly throughout the season for tasty carrots for salads and cooking.

Carrot : Carrot Fly Free Collection

Resistance lies in them having low levels of chlorogenic acid, a chemical which the larvae of the carrot fly needs for survival. This means that they appear to be unattractive to the fly and even if your crop is attacked to some degree the larvae will soon die after doing relatively little damage.

Collection comprises one each of Resistafly, Flyaway and Early Nantes.

Resistafly

Successful British breeding in improved carrot fly resistance has resulted in Resistafly, an outstanding variety with early vigour, uniform appearance, rich core colour and smooth skin. A breakthrough introduction. Recommended for mid to late season use.

Flyaway

British bred with partial Carrot Fly resistance, due to lower levels of chlorogenic acid within the developing roots. Flyaway is naturally sweet, producing early blunt ended roots, with good skin and flesh colour.

Early Nantes

Fast maturing and uniform, with a deep fresh colour and first class flavour. Suitable for early sowing in frames.

Carrot : Carson F1 Hybrid

Long roots with rich orange core and a crunchy sweet taste. Chantenay hybrids are renowned for their taste, and this is one of the best. Carrot Carson has a maincrop maturity that bulks up well to give good weight roots that store really well for autumn and winter use.

Carrot : Créme de Lite F1 Hybrid

Stunning, creamy skinned, tapering roots with creamy, juicy sweet flesh. Carrot Créme de Lite is delicious raw and full of nutrients and vitamins, but also very tasty as a cooked vegetable. Just lift and wash under the tap, no need to peel. Prefers well-drained, moist, rich, cool conditions. Contains vitamins C, E, K and folate as well as lutein, an antioxidant targeted to the eyes.

Carrot : Early Nantes 2

Approximate root length: 13-15cms (5½-6 inches).

Carrot Early Nantes 2 is a fast maturing selection of this superb carrot with medium length roots of good internal colour. Excellent also for a January/February sowing under glass.

Carrot : Early Nantes 2 Seed Tape

Seed Tapes are an easy way to sow carrots. Simply roll out the tapes in a prepared moist seed drill.

Carrot : Flyaway F1

Approximate root length: 12-15cms (5-6 inches).

British bred with partial Carrot Fly resistance, due to lower levels of chlorogenic acid within the developing roots. Carrot Flyaway is naturally sweet, producing early blunt ended roots, with good skin and flesh colour. Tried and tested by thousands of T&M gardeners.

This variety is based on original breeding work carried out by Dr Bob Ellis and sponsored by MAFF funding.

Carrot : Healthmaster F1 Hybrid

Approximate root length: 20-25cms (8-10 inches).

Carrot : Honeysnack

A well named variety because of its refreshingly juicy and sweet, delicious flavour. The creamy-yellow tapering, blunt ended roots of Carrot Honeysnack attain a length of 10-15cm (4-6in) and have a beautiful flesh colour when cut in slices or cubes, making it ideal for snacking or added to salads.

Carrot : Infinity F1 Hybrid

Root length: 20-25cm (10-12in)

'Cut & Peel' (Imperator) varieties are popular for their long, slender, succulent sweet roots, with a uniform orange core colour. Carrot Infinity F1 is ideal cut into chunks for tasty snacks, dips or stews. Stores well.

Carrot : Jeanette F1 - Duchy Originals

Carrot Jeanette F1 produces rich orange, smooth skinned roots. Vigorous foliage allows for easier pulling.

Early maturing Nantes with smooth conical roots. Ideal for salads, due to good colour, with vigorous foliage making pulling easier.

Carrot Jeanette F1 has been bred to give increased Hybrid vigour, garden performance and flavour, thus increasing your harvest. Due to their wide ranging pest and disease resistance, there will be no need for the use of chemicals, making them ideal for organic gardeners.

Carrot : Kingston F1

Carrot Kingston is a new hybrid of high calibre, producing heavy, cylindrical, well-coloured roots with impeccable flavour. With strong tops, meaning easier lifting, 'Kingston' also boasts good storage qualities, and is ideal for winter stews, casseroles and as a steamed vegetable. Carrot : Mignon

Carrot Mignon's smooth, tender and juicy, rich-orange roots were specially selected for growing as 'baby roots' or 'little-finger carrots' as they quickly mature (approximately 12 weeks from sowing). This makes them ideal for successional sowings in containers, outdoors or as early sowings in a cold frame. Seeds are in the RHS Vegetable Collection.

Quick maturing, Carrot Mini Finger produces cylindrical, tender sweet orange roots.

Carrot : Mokum F1

Approximate root length: 15-18cms (6-7 inches).

High yielding, very juicy, crisp and sweet, top quality, long, conical roots and small core. Ideal for juicing or fresh eating. Carrot Mokum F1 can be sown indoors from January onwards. Suitable for growing under glass, frames and containers.

Carrot : Nantes Frubund : Fast Crop

Highly commended by the Royal Horticultural Society, UK. Carrot Nantes Frubund is the first genuine autumn sowing carrot, exceptionally early and cold resistant. It will give you carrots in your garden in the spring when nobody else has them and when they are fetching high prices in the shops. A very important autumn sowing vegetable breakthrough.

Carrot : Nigel F1 Hybrid

Root length: 15-20cm (6-8in)

A quick growing second early Nantes. Carrot Nigel F1 produces heavy crops of cylindrical, smooth-skinned, good flavoured, coreless bright orange roots, which resist cracking once washed. Stores well for winter use.

Carrot : Parmex

Root length: 3-5cm (1½-2in)

Deliciously tender, bite-sized, round carrots, with a very smooth skin. Carrot Parmex is early maturing and uniform. Ideal for containers, high density cropping or even in a windowbox. Suitable for clay soils where carrots are only dreamt of.

Carrot : Purple Haze F1 Hybrid

Approximate root length: 20-25cms (8-10 inches).

A smooth, rich purple skin contrasts with the deep orange flesh when washed and diced into chunks. Carrot Purple Haze produces long, heavy roots best eaten raw when full of flavour and nutritionally high in antioxidants and Vitamin A. The colour and flavour are less intense if steamed or cooked.

Carrot : Rainbow F1 Hybrid

Unique breeding over many years has resulted in a true F1 mixture of pastel shades with a diversity in skin and core colours, ranging from white to pale yellow through shades of orange. Washed sliced roots are sweet, juicy and tender, adding an exciting contrast to any salad or cooked dish. All colours of Carrot Rainbow are high in vitamins and other nutrients.

Carrot : Red Samurai

The slender, tapering, red skinned roots of Carrot Red Samurai grow up to 28cm (11in) in length, have a sweet pinkish flesh that holds its colour when steamed. Ideal for brightening any dinner plate, or used raw as a colourful addition to a salad.

Carrot : Resistafly F1 Hybrid

Approximate root length: 12-15cms (5-6 inches).

Excellent as a Maincrop variety, with superb storage capabilities. Carrot Resistafly produces larger, cylindrical, smooth, more blunt ended roots than Flyaway, with the sweetest of flavours. Good early vigour, with good skin and core colour when later sown, as a Maincrop.

Carrot : Sugarsnax 54 F1 Hybrid

Experience a flavour sensation with this extra sweet carrot, which also contains high levels of beta carotene. Carrot Sugarsnax 54 produces long, 25cm (10 inch) roots of exceptional quality, so sweet you can just lift the roots, wash and serve in chunks in salads.

Carrot : Supreme Chantenay Red Cored

Deservedly well-known, rich, orange/red-fleshed carrot, crisp and sweet. Carrot Supreme Chantenay Red Cored is excellent for a very early and successional sowing. Described as an intermediate, stump-rooted variety.

Carrot : Sweet Candle F1

A rich orange skinned and fleshed, coreless, extra sweet flavoured Japanese bred variety with smooth skinned, cylindrical, blunt ended roots. Carrot Sweet Candle is excellent for late summer - autumn cropping, for the kitchen or on the showbench.

Carrot : Tendersnax F1 Hybrid

Carrot Tendersnax is an early maturity sister line to Sugarsnax producing slightly tapered, 13-15cm (5-6in) blunt ended, smooth, rich orange roots. Outstanding juicy and tender sweet flavour. Delicious eaten raw in salads, used for juicing or as a cooked vegetable.

High in Beta-carotene and Vitamin A and rich in antioxidants.

Carrot : Ulysses F1 Hybrid

First class, deep-orange, smooth, cylindrical 18-20cm (7-8in) long roots with healthy, strong, erect foliage for easy lifting. Did You Know? - The first carrots were not orange. The orange colour was developed in the 16th Century by Dutch farmers to match the colour of The House of Orange. Carrots can be yellow, orange, white and even purple.
